Because the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) governs background screening, understanding its complexities is paramount for industry professionals. Passing the certification exams, administered by the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS), can be a daunting experience. However, certified screening professionals gain deeper knowledge to educate clients and ensure FCRA compliance.

That’s why we’re pleased to announce that two members of 
our management team, Ollyvia Banda (Client Services Manager) and Elyzabeth Ambra (Compliance Director), recently earned their FCRA Advanced Certification. Ollyvia obtained her Basic and Advanced Certification in only a month and Elyzabeth passed her Advanced Certification exam with a perfect score!

Topics Covered by Advanced FCRA Certification 

The training webinar provided by NAPBS covers the following topics:

  1. Is it covered by the FCRA? — The contours of what is and is not a "consumer report" under the FCRA such that the Act's obligations come into effect.
  2. Is it accurate? — The question of what constitutes "maximum possible accuracy" under section 607(b).
  3. Are my disclosure and authorization forms compliant? — The requirement of standalone disclosure forms and written authorizations.
  4. Am I complying with Section 613? — The issues raised when reporting adverse public record information.
  5. Am I complying with Section 609? — The requirements around providing full file disclosures.
  6. Recent Litigation — Implications of recent litigation.​
