2020 is sure to be full of insightful conferences with captivating speakers, new industry trends, emerging technology, and a whole lot of “hindsight is 2020” jokes. With the plethora of conferences every year, t’s always difficult to choose which conferences to attend. To help you navigate your options and plan ahead, here are the top 10 HR conferences we look forward to in 2020.
February 11-12 | San Francisco
Start your year off with SmartRecruiters’ conference, #HIRE20. Featuring speakers from Google, Visa, and Deloitte, this conference will be sure to inspire you for the rest of the year. It also includes a hiring debate where attendees can vote on the questions all recruiters are asking themselves. Come a day early to get certified as a Recruiting Rockstar!
March 23-25 | Las Vegas
“Where the company of the future begins” is HR Transform’s tagline, and it sums up this conference perfectly. If you want to build a team well-prepared for whatever industry changes may come in 2020, HR Transform is the conference for you. HR Transform’s speakers and attendees will represent game-changing companies like 23andMe, Fitbit, Lyft, Slack, and more.
April 20-22 | Orlando
SHRM’s Talent Conference pairs well with their general conference, but it is also great on its own. Recruiters are consistently facing more competition for candidates, and SHRM’s Talent Conference offers an upper-hand on talent acquisition. They haven’t announced speakers yet, but looking at past SHRM conferences, we know they’ll be good.
May 12-13 | Las Vegas
UNLEASH America is great for senior-level HR leaders-- 78% of attendees are directors and above, according to UNLEASH. Speakers will include strategists like Heather McGowan and executives from companies like Twitter, Microsoft, Comcast, and others. If you feel like traveling a bit further, check out UNLEASH World, coming to Paris in October.
June 16-17 | Seattle
Recruiters in the technology industry face particularly brutal competition-- software engineers are in steep demand, and tech companies are recruiting them with ever-increasing salaries and benefits. Talent 42 focuses specifically on tech recruiting and how to recruit the best talent. Speakers include recruiters from companies like Google, Hulu, and more to be announced. There will also be a roundtable session that will be a great opportunity for recruiters to come together and network.
June 17-19 | Austin
Bullhorn’s Engage conference has grown to the largest staffing and recruitment conference in the country. More than 1,300 attendees will learn about cutting-edge staffing practices. They haven’t announced speakers yet, but last year featured speakers like Earvin “Magic” Johnson, executives of the nation’s leading staffing agencies, and lots of Bullhorn leaders. Expect similar (awesome) speakers in 2020.

June 28-July 1 | San Diego
Out of all the can’t-miss conferences in 2020, SHRM 20 is one that you really shouldn’t miss. SHRM 2020 will have ten conference tracks that focus on all aspects of HR, including compensation and benefits, culture, employment law, diversity and inclusion, and more. The 2020 conference will focus on “The World We Shape,” which suggests a focus on how HR teams affect their companies internally and externally. SHRM hasn’t announced its speakers yet, but think big-- last year’s speakers included Brené Brown, Martha Stewart, and other influencers across the industry.
October 13-16 | Las Vegas
HR Tech’s conference brings more than 10,000 attendees from across the globe. At this conference, you’ll learn how to use the latest HR technology efficiently. You’ll also learn about technology advancements, and how those advancements intersect with HR’s development as a whole. Speakers have yet to be announced, but last year’s 125 speakers included the world’s top HR analysts, influencers and executives. Registration opens on January 29, 2020.
October 14-16 | Boston
According to CNBC, about 95 percent of recruiters use LinkedIn during the hiring process. LinkedIn is a great resource in general, but their conference is an even better resource for the latest in talent acquisition. Last year’s conference featured Michelle Obama, recruiters from Google, Patagonia’s head of HR, and many more influential leaders. While LinkedIn hasn’t announced its 2020 speakers, we’re sure they’ll be in the same (amazing!) league as last year’s.
November 9-12 | San Francisco
Salesforce’s Dreamforce is the largest software conference in the world. An incredible variety of industries use Salesforce to power their businesses, so Salesforce’s conference offers something for everyone. Last year’s conference featured former U.S. President, Barack Obama, the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, Athlete of the Year, Megan Rapinoe, and others. There were more than 3,000 sessions last year, so whatever your industry, Dreamforce will have something in store for you-- and let’s not forget about the awesome concert they throw every year!
All of these conferences are sure to be incredible, but if you can’t attend, check for the availability of virtual attendance. More and more conferences are offering live stream attendance for a selection of their sessions.
